About Us

Have you ever wanted to work for an organisation that makes decisions on complex and significant State Development proposals? We have an executive position available at the NSW Independent Planning Commission. The main functions of the Commission are to:

  • perform the role of consent authority for certain State Significant Development proposals;
  • conduct public hearings into planning related matters where directed by the Minister; and
  • provide advice to the Minister.

You can find more information about us here .

About you and the role

As the Director, Communications and Engagement, you will be leading a team to deliver the media, communications and engagement strategies of the Commission. You will be well versed in managing external, internal and media relationships and have expertise in managing public meetings/hearings, developing targeted multi-channel communications, and managing reputational risks and emerging issues. Providing succinct, accurate and impactful advice to the Chair, Commissioners and key internal and external stakeholders is at the core of everything you do. Your written and verbal communications are impeccable, and you instil this same level of expectation within your team.

Building and supporting the Commission’s message and presence across multi-channel communication initiatives, including social and digital, will also be an important aspect of your role and something that you have had previous success in delivering. You will work to develop, implement and evaluate innovative, customer-focussed communication strategies that support the transparent operations of the Commission. Your discretion and integrity is exceptional.

Your challenge will be providing accurate communications advice whilst working in a high pressure and highly confidential environment where diplomacy is paramount. The environment will be complex; however, you enjoy working in a team where building genuine stakeholder understanding and managing the delivery of effective media, communication and stakeholder strategies is in your DNA.
