About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director People & Culture, the Head of Injury Management and Workers Compensation will be accountable for leading, directing and managing all injury management and workers compensation activity relating to the organisations' self-insurance licence, improving HSE and workers compensation performance. Additionally, you will:
  • Determine the risk management compliance and internal controls necessary to ensure strategic and operational risks are effectively managed and minimised in relations to workers compensation.
  • Lead your team to provide proactive and efficient guidance and expertise to the business units regarding workers compensation claims, issues, strategies and financial implications.
  • Manage service providers to ensure the highest level of services is received.
  • Manage the claims and injury management systems to meet internal and external audit standard and progress in line with self-insurance obligations.
  • Manage the strategic regulator interface and relationship including all licencing and compliance requirements.
  • Successfully oversee/lead a number of large programs of work.

About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Experience leading a self-insured workers compensation/injury management function at a national level.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of applicable workers compensation legislation, regulations and a detailed understanding of the self-insurance licence and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and monitoring of budgets in a complex business in relation to workers compensation.
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with a proven capacity to establish strategic directions for large, matrix-style organisations, as well as the successful action plans that achieve those directions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, understands the business drivers.
  • A highly capable decision-maker with the ability to navigate ambiguous and complex scenarios
  • Well-developed written communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence outcomes beyond the span of your control and brokering consensus among stakeholders with conflicting needs and expectations.
  • A strong continuous improvement mindset
