The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) brings together Victoria's Energy, Climate Change, Environment, Water, Forests, Planning, Local Government and Emergency Management functions. It ensures an integrated approach to the development of long-term State and regional strategies to enable economic growth while delivering liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities. It builds community resilience by adopting an “all communities, all emergencies” approach across our built and natural environments to improve protection against natural disasters and other emergencies.

The Energy Group plays a key role in supporting a significant transformation of the Energy sector in Victoria. The Energy Demand, Efficiency and Safety Division within the Group is focused on the role of energy demand in the energy transition, through improved energy efficiency, demand management, and the transition of buildings to net zero emissions by 2050. Working with key stakeholders, the Division also focuses on integrating relevant policy from key response areas to provide for a safe, reliable and secure network developing policy for energy safety, energy emergency management, energy security and preparedness and gas pipeline regulation.

The Executive Director, Energy Demand, Efficiency and Safety provides the strategic direction and strong leadership for the Division and its two main focal points – energy efficiency and demand, specifically in relation to Victoria's flagship energy and emissions reduction program, the Victorian Energy Upgrades scheme, and emergency management and energy safety. The Executive Director operates as a key source of high quality, innovative and strategic project and program advice to the Secretary and Ministers on large scale energy projects and programs, business, and energy sector development.

To be considered for this position, you will have significant experience in delivering for government at a senior executive level in the energy sector, particularly in energy efficiency policy. You will also have a strong background managing in large complex environments, and will be able to demonstrate your leadership through building confident teams and driving a positive culture. Experience in emergency management, energy security and preparedness, and gas pipeline regulation is highly desirable.
