The Woolworths Wholesale business is focussed on bringing the best of Woolworths to more Australian communities everyday.

An emerging business within Woolworths Ecosystems which has recently completed the build phase and commenced trading and now focused on growth. As such, we have a small but solid customer base, including partners in the Petrol and Convenience, Remote Communities and Charities.

Woolworths Group has recently established GreenStock, a stand-alone red meat business that will support Woolworths growth and deliver on the combined red meat needs of our retail, international and wholesale businesses. It will do this by partnering across the Woolworths Group, taking full advantage of the significant enhancements made to our end-to-end meat supply chain in recent years. This includes utilising advanced analytics to meet all of our customer and channel requirements, whilst optimising overall economics for the group.

This will further broaden the Wholesale offer and open new and exciting channels in the domestic meat industry.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Woolworths Wholesale Team. Reporting to the General Manager for Woolworths Wholesale, this newly created role will see you as the category lead, tasked with establishing and growing the Wholesale meat channel. You will manage all aspects of category activity including the development of effective customer focused core category management functions, core ranging, product development, category solutions, seasonal ranging whilst maintaining a proactive and constructive relationship with wholesale meat customers and the Greenstock team. You will also:

  • Establish an effective and efficient operating model for the supply of goods to Wholesale meat customers and an effective ways of working with Greenstock;
  • Build a program of work to deliver key outcomes in line with our growth ambitions, customer contracts and commitments;
  • Build productive and constructive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders whilst establishing strategic customer / partner relationships, and negotiating responsibly with customers and supply partners; and
  • Provide leadership and support for the Wholesale and International group and external business customers.

Who we’re looking for

Our new Senior Commercial Manager for Wholesale Meat will have strong management experience and a leadership background in a Wholesale, Retail, or FMCG environment, Your experience in the Meat industry along with your business development capability and account management experience will help you and your team succeed and establish effective, cross functional relationships across the business. You will also have:

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with an ability to use data to make informed decisions;
  • Experience in building and managing strategic relationships with key customers and external partners;
  • An ability to create new and effective business models utilising your knowledge of retail trends and market activity; and a
  • Proven understanding and awareness of category and product, market awareness, general trade and consumer insights.
