• Location: Melbourne CBD/Flexible We are looking for someone with well developed project management skills, high level accounting expertise, well established with use of analytical tools, good communication and stakeholder management skills.

This role leads and coordinates the preparation of the department's financial statements and several significant finance projects relating to accounting for service concession arrangements, crown land, employee benefits and right of use leases.

The role will be required to manage the department's external reporting obligations to external authorities including the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), the Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO). the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and other key internal stakeholders such as the Risk and Audit Committee.

The role will be the key support for continuing the business operations of the Financial Reporting team during the transition to the new Oracle Cloud Finance system.

Key contributions include leading and coordinating preparation of the department's annual financial report, dealing with significant finance projects relating to accounting for service concession arrangements, crown land and right of use leases, and supporting the Financial Reporting team during the transition to the new Oracle Cloud Finance system. Key skills and qualities - problem solving and service excellence.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Degree in finance, accounting or commerce.
  • Member of CPA/CA.
  • A strong working knowledge of government accounting, including the Financial Management Act and how departmental data feeds to DTF.
  • Knowledge of the Good and Service Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax rules also desirable.
  • Knowledge of financial systems with experience in Oracle desirable.
  • Expertise in the use of analytical tools within Excel.

This is a Fixed term position for a period of 12 months.
