Having successfully delivered over 200MV solar project portfolios in Australia and Philippines, they are now running and ambitious for a long-term project pipeline to further accelerate the advent of sustainable future.

The role

Our client is looking for a Principal Commissioning Manager to be based out of their Sydney CBD office to manage the final commissioning of an existing utility solar farm, and in the mid-term, manage the end-to-end construction for new sites.

As an instrumental part of the Engineering Team, this role will Identifying and mitigating risks associated with construction and commissioning, including advising/recommending the SPV board of appropriate actions. Reporting to the Vice President and working Monday to Friday:

Your main task and responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and mitigating risks associated with construction and commissioning, including advising/recommending the SPV board of appropriate actions.
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders to deliver CMA obligations to the SPV, including EPC contractor, external consultants and the SPV board.
  • Coordinating with internal departments to ensure EPC contracts and connection contracts are being adhered to by contractors, including running workshops and reporting to the board on project progress in accordance with CMA.
  • Liaising with internal legal team to assess and validate all milestones payment, variations and/or EOT claims or with external legal team to respond and coordinate all dispute processes with relevant parties
  • Managing consultants and site team to ensure commissioning is carried out in accordance with NSP and AEMO requirement
  • Overseeing and Managing the delivery of construction projects in accordance with relevant agreements with the support of other departments within the internal departments

Selection criteria

To be successful for this position, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical) or equivalent TAFE qualifications
  • Must have experience with commissioning of solar projects with understanding of AEMO commissioning requirement.
  • Must have experience with reviewing commissioning report and writing up project progress report at board level
  • Resource, stakeholder, and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with decent commercial acumen
  • Understanding of contracting strategy is required in to ensure EPC is carrying out its commissioning obligations and reporting, and what contractual process must be followed in case of non-performance
  • Ideally have experience in risk management as this project requires some level of risk control.
