Head of Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets

Join our team as the Head of Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets, and lead a large-scale transformation of our enterprise data capability.

In this role, you will be the Technology Director responsible for the vision and strategy of Macquarie’s corporate data platform, powering the enterprise delivery of strategic programs, and delivering a world class data platform.

You’ll get to lead a globally distributed team, with high visibility across business lines and within Finance, Treasury and Risk, in a critical role for delivering a large number of initiatives built on a common strategic data asset.

The ideal candidate will have a broad and deep understanding of Technology strategy & roadmap, solution architecture, data architecture, project management, technology consulting, business analysis and IT service management, and the ability to demonstrate:

  • excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with C-level management and other business leaders on complex programs, and experience in leading large globally distributed teams
  • expertise in the execution and management of enterprise data strategies, including big data, enterprise data models, analytics, BI
  • domain expertise in Financial Services, particularly in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Risk areas
  • experience in regulatory programs like BCBS 239, IFRS 9 and EFS requirements will be highly regarded
  • application of machine learning to solve business challenges or create new opportunities
  • evangelisation of data analytics and data democratisation
  • proven capability to build and manage high performing team and realising synergies and delivery efficiency through the adoption of agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices
  • passionate about the adoption of data analytics in the areas of Finance, Client Operations and Risk management
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholder.

We need you to:

  • develop the Strategic Data Assets strategy in support of the Group Data Strategy, and supporting the Financial Management Group, Risk Management Group and Corporate Operations groups, and engagement with each of Macquarie’s operating groups
  • be responsible for the management of Strategic Data Assets platforms in accordance with Macquarie’s Risk Management Framework and technology standards, and in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and Macquarie Group policies
  • maintain the integrity, completeness and accuracy of data collected or created by the Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets team
  • formulate and obtaining approval of the Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets team budget as a component of the FOR Technology annual budget
  • manage Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets core technology infrastructure, supporting, developing and delivering business systems and applications and providing strategic leadership on technology opportunities
  • input on in the formulation of the FOR technology priorities in the FOR Leadership Team Meeting and other Leadership Forums, and supporting and seeking to deliver the COG strategy and COG Technology priorities
  • manage the Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets staff of COG Technology including recruitment, on-boarding, reward and recognition, consequence and performance management, succession planning and training
  • demonstrate and promotebehaviour that is consistent with and promotes Macquarie Group’s risk culture and Code of Conduct, and the principles in What We Stand For: Opportunity, Accountability and Integrity
  • demonstrate and promote behaviours that create an environment that encourages the Data Pipelines and Strategic Data Assets team members to raise any issues of concern.
