JOB DESCRIPTION

The South Australian Government Financing Authority (SAFA) exist to provide superior financial, commercial, and advisory services to South Australian public Sector.

SAFA are the central financing authority, captive insurer and manager of the passenger and light commercial fleet operations for the South Australian Government.

Reporting to the General Manager SAFA, the Director of Finance will be pivotal to the growth and development of the finance department. With a mandate to drive accountability and efficiency across the business, whilst nurturing strong relationships; this is a key leadership post for SAFA.

The Director, Finance is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the accounting, settlement, reporting and information technology system functions within SAFA.

You will demonstrate an appetite for change and a growth mindset, as well as the ability to develop, lead and mentor a team. You will nurture trusted and strong relationships with stakeholders and team members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Effectively lead and manage SAFA’s finance function whilst setting and maintaining high-performance standards and driving and encouraging continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure the delivery of relevant, timely and accurate business information to SAFA’s management, Advisory Board, Under Treasurer and Public Sector Clients
  • Preparation of annual financial statements for SAFA, its subsidiaries clients in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Ensure information systems are developed, acquired, deployed, and maintained to satisfy the business and reporting requirements of SAFA
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Auditor-General and other Government agencies

Key requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential (Commerce/Accounting/Economics)
  • CA / CPA is desirable
  • Knowledge of financial securities and derivatives
  • Strong systems and technology experience
  • Experience with Financial and Management Accounting, formulation and monitoring of budgets and associated strategies
  • Advanced relationship building and communication skills
