How will I help?
As the Head of Business Controls and Monitoring, in this Line 1 Risk role, you will be directly responsible for Leading a team of experienced risk professionals in a role that will see you play a hands on role in the oversight of BTIPS (BT investment Products Solutions) business operations and risk management practices of the Group.

The role involves direct engagement across the BTIPS business, as well as key 2nd-line / Core Risk, Compliance and business-enablement stakeholders to drive and ensure the BTIPS teams are appropriately managing current and emerging risks, compliance, remediation and regulatory obligations within approved risk and compliance appetites and frameworks, policies and procedures.

You will also be responsible for, but not limited to the following;

  • Developing a strong first-line and business risk culture in which enterprise risk (operational / compliance) awareness and considerations are built into day-to-day business decisions including implementing approaches for improving risk management practices within the BTIPS business (1st line).
  • Provide the business with pragmatic, outcome-focused risk advice and insights that influence decisions, optimise risk reward balance and assist it to achieve its objectives, within risk appetite and legal parameters (with assistance from specialist legal, compliance and AML specialists)
  • Support the Head of Portfolio Risk in the development of strategic risk management programs and initiatives while partner with wider stakeholders to communicate risk uplift and continuous improvement.

What do I need?
You will bring significant experience within a senior enterprise and/or regulatory compliance risk management role in the Investment or financial markets industry. You will bring strong technical knowledge of core risk principals, and leadership experience and be looking to take your next career challenge in a leading role. You will enjoy being hands on, with a proven track record of implementing practical and pragmatic risk solutions. Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills are imperative as leading a team of up to 6 direct reports will rely on the ability to work within a collaborative environment, supporting multiple business units. Proven success leading a high performance team while being able to motivate those to deliver against tight deadlines and diverse projects is highly desirable.
