Head of Bone and Mineral Medicine, Royal Melbourne Hospital
• Consultant Endocrinologist clinical lead for the acute and chronic care of bone and mineral disorders
• Clinical research opportunities in the Parkville BioMedical Precinct including the University of Melbourne

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Diabetes & Endocrinology team. This is a sessional part-time position, working 16 hours per fortnight, based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, City Campus.

Your opportunity - responsibilities:

  • Diligent and professional outpatient face to face and telehealth care as well as ward service duty
  • Leadershiop and teamwork participation in department projects
  • Involvement in high level quality activities including the Bone Density Unit
  • Involvement in medical education
  • Delivering high level research

Key relationships:

  • Director Department Diabetes & Endocrinology
  • Hospital Medical Officers, Registrars, and Consultant staff of Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology.
  • Referring doctors within RMH
  • Referring GPs and other doctors outside RMH
  • Melbourne Medicial School, University of Melbourne

About you - key selection criteria:


  • MBBS or equivalent
  • FRACP Endocrinology or equivalent qualification.
  • Medical Board of Australia registration as a medical practitioner with specialist registration in an appropriate sub-specialty such as Endocrinology.
  • Postgraduate university research degree in a relevant field (endocrinology, osteoporosis)
  • Practical experience in managing a Bone Density Unit and patients with osteoporosis.
  • Highly experienced in managing a full range of acute endocrine disorders and emergencies
  • Highly experienced in managing a full range of chronic endocrine bone disorders
  • Training and/or supervision in Endocrinology including Bone and Mineral Medicine
  • Personal area of interest in Bone & Mineral Medicine clinical care and research


  • Experience in administering a clinical service
  • Track record of attracting financial support for research and development activities.
