About the team
Network Growth Portfolio (NGP) coordinates and facilitates the work required by Sydney Trains in the introduction of new and altered infrastructure and fleet into the Sydney Trains and NSW Trains Networks.
Transport for NSW delivers the Network upgrades through programs of work. Sydney Trains supports the works enabling successful implementation of the programs and being business ready to operate and maintain the modified Network once the works are commissioned.

The opportunity
The Senior Program Manager NGP is responsible for coordinating the delivery of an allocated program of work delivered by Sydney Trains as part of a larger Transport for NSW program. The position coordinates and facilitates the works ensuring the business undertakes the scope within agreed cost and time constraints.

What you will do

  • Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, including leading direct and indirect reports and SMEs, to ensure programs and projects delivery, and enable program outputs
  • Lead the change to support the Transport strategic objectives, program and project objectives to deliver customer focused strategies and benefits and operationalise and integrate program objectives into Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink, supported by robust operational/customer readiness frameworks
  • Facilitate and develop, manage and execute a Program Management Plan to meet scope, project schedule and time, cost quality and safety and environment requirements, manage budgets and risk management plans and ensure compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards, facilitate environmental planning/approval and manage implementation to ensure compliance to conditions of approval
  • Develop and monitor benefit realisation throughout the program management lifecycle including financial gate management
  • Develop detailed program budget and forecast cash flows/milestones from approved budget, review and recommend for approval for individual project costs and variations, monitor and control project costs and report on expenditure and address any slippage issues
  • Contribute to procurement requirements, tender assessments and evaluation, administration of contracts, variations, manage resolution of contractual disputes and support with legal and commercials advice to deliver milestones and alignment to project agreements
  • Communicate effectively, develop strong stakeholder relationships to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and provide timely and clearly presented reporting, advice and recommendations to inform, support decision making and for solution of all risks and issues to meet program and project objectives.
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with Sydney Trains safety management system requirements


About you

  • Resilient and ability to work in a complex matrix environment with multiple changes
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about what you do, strong stakeholder skills, you keep your finger on the pulse when negotiating with key stakeholders to agree change, implementation and adoption to the program.
  • Have obtained a Diploma of Project Management or equivalent demonstrated experience and ability in delivering programs on time and on budget within Rail, Transport or Infrastructure sectors.
