JOB DESCRIPTION

Counter Terrorism Command (CTC) is a specialist area within Victoria Police that works with partner agencies to investigate, disrupt and mitigate the risk of terrorism and politically motivated violence in Victoria. The CT Intel Team in the Strategic Coordination Unit is responsible for the triage and provision of timely and accurate intelligence to support Victoria Police responses to terrorism and politically motivated violence. Working in a dedicated team of Sworn Police and Victorian Public Service staff, the Analyst will undertake variety of operational and tactical intelligence tasks to assist investigators, managers and other specialist officers carry out CTC's mission.

Your duties will include:

  • Undertaking the collection, evaluation, collation, analysis and controlled dissemination of information
  • Identifying, assessing and reporting on specific targets or target areas
  • Developing good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparing routine management reports
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of intelligence information processes and providing input into the maintenance and improvement of systems, regulations and legislations
  • Cultivating and maintaining a detailed knowledge of the current terrorism threat environment
  • Effectively managing, maintaining, preparing and delivering intelligence information by utilising a variety of computer systems and applications

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills as well as strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to review statistical information and identify trends, patterns and issues
  • Experience in research and analysis
  • Tertiary qualifications in the related field of criminology, criminal justice or criminal intelligence are highly desirable

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Two (2) full time ongoing positions available.
  • One (1) full time fixed term until 03-01-2022 position available.
  • These positions will be located at Victoria Police Centre. 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
