About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Operations this role is responsible for driving strategies to manage and reduce internal and external fraud and security exposures for the Coles Express business.

Keeping our team members and their work environment safe is paramount to us. Utilising Fraud Analytics, new technology and through coaching this role is responsible for ensuring security is front of mind for our leadership and team members.

What you’ll be doing

On a day-to day basis you work with your team to address criminality within the business through coaching, analytics, investigation, and action. You work with the state teams, law enforcement authorities and other key internal and external stakeholders to address criminal impacts and act as a point of contact for law enforcement agencies.

You’ll also:

  • coach and develop your team to ensure consistent and best practice security measures, investigations and a strong safety and security culture is maintained across the business
  • ensure that investigations undertaken by the Security & Fraud team are conducted safely and legally (including correct case management) in accordance to legislation and company policy
  • provide the business with insight/reporting into internal and external activity causing loss to stores and deliver solutions to reduce risk and impact to business through thought leadership, investment in technology and processes
  • manage the overall business investment in Security Services through threat analysis, deployment and contractor procurement and management delivering agreed ROI targets
  • manage the recording and dissemination of Coles’ criminal statistics
  • engage and maintain working relationships with third party service providers such as those relating to Fraud Analytics, Case Management (software), Security Services and Technical Security (hardware) contractors

Good things you’ll need

We’re looking for a leader passionate about safety and security with proven success in leading Security and Loss Prevention within a complex retail environment. You understand loss prevention processes and have strong knowledge of investigations, case management, HR/IR process, criminal law, and store operations.

You’ll also need

  • knowledge of business systems involved in investigation of fraud, particularly Fraud Analytics software (Secure), CCTV and Case Management
  • working knowledge in security solutions and best practices including hardware utilised within Coles
  • strong communication skills and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels including external stakeholder and relevant authorities
  • to be technologically savvy with an aim to continually improve through investment and adoption the best practices, policies, and technology
  • ability to align loss prevention principles and practices with overall business strategy
  • familiar with the management of covert security operations, including budgeting, contractor management, performance measures #LI-BU
