The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) brings together Victoria's Energy, Climate Change, Environment, Water, Forests, Planning, Local Government and Emergency Management functions. It ensures an integrated approach to the development of long-term State and regional strategies to enable economic growth while delivering liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities.

The Energy Group plays a key role in supporting a significant transformation of the Energy sector in Victoria. The Transmission Branch within the Group works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan, assess and deliver strategic transmission infrastructure and policy projects to ensure that the development of Victoria's transmission network supports Victorian energy reliability and renewable energy generation growth.

The Director, Transmission leads a high performing team providing advice and direction on the development of Victoria's electricity transmission network to support electricity supply reliability and the renewable energy transition. The Director ensures key strategic transmission projects are enabled and delivered in a timely fashion. The role also leads evaluations and assessments of transmission infrastructure investment to support the long-term benefit of Victorians and Government policy collaborating with key stakeholders to provide thought leadership and strategic input into Victoria's future transmission arrangements.

To be considered for this position, you will have extensive knowledge of, and experience working in transmission and the Energy sector. Understanding the role of transmission in the energy landscape and in the energy supply chain, electricity transmission planning, and investment principles, processes and arrangements is instrumental. You will also bring experience and strong networks across the sector, and commercial acumen. In addition you will have a strong foundation in policy development and the Victorian and national electricity transmission framework. Effective leadership, strategic thinking and the ability to engage with stakeholders, influence and negotiate are essential. Technical management experience and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
