We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

  • Take a senior leadership and mentorship role in the multidisciplinary management of complicated pregnancies
  • Participate in the teaching and curriculum development and review activities in conjunction with the Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the Division of Maternity Services
  • As the inaugural head of department, show commitment to, and set the direction and lead, original and innovative research programs that have demonstrable impact and clear benefit to women with pregnancies complicated by medical disorders
  • The Director will be expected to develop departmental directions including the possible reorganisation of the current physician services and attract new funding for new and innovative directions. Current services include, but are not limited to, endocrinology including diabetes and thyroid disease, haematology, infectious diseases, addiction medicine, nephrology, neurology, cardiac, respiratory and gastrointestinal services.
  • A medical qualification registrable with the AHPRA
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians or equivalent international qualification. Obstetric medicine subspecialty training, experience and/or qualification is preferred
  • A research doctorate
  • Internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in clinical and research activities in the field of medicine/obstetric medicine, including proven skills in identifying and exploiting new opportunities in education, research and clinical service provision
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership in research, scholarship, education and clinical care in medicine
  • A strong record in the advancement of medical and clinical education
  • An excellent record in medical (including obstetric medical) research, as evidenced by a superior publication record.
  • A strong record of success in obtaining external peer reviewed research grants relevant to obstetric medicine
  • Ability to provide advocacy for women’s health
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with proven success in working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders including academic peers, clinicians, industry, community, policy makers and government
  • A proven track record of highly developed leadership, with a demonstrated ability to provide strategic focus and direction, fostering a culture of clinical innovation and collaborative academic achievement
  • A record of experience in senior clinical leadership and management at hospital and/or university level would be an advantage
