The Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 (CNS2) will assist in optimising well-coordinated nursing and clinical care, which will aim to reduce the length of stay and improve communication and continuity of care. The CNS2 acts as a senior staff member for the mental inpatient unit multidisciplinary team supporting nursing staff through care discussions, care planning, education and supervision. As a leader and expert in this speciality, the CNS2 will actively drive quality improvement projects and participate in research that ensures high quality, best practice, and research based service delivery.

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the relevant clinical area of their post-registration qualification.

Demonstrated evidence of advanced clinical practice in the specialty area.

Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and problem solving capabilities; able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong commitment to contribute to own and team professional development and act as a resource person and to mentor others within the specialty where required.

Demonstrated evidence of contribution to the development of clinical practice relevant to paediatrics.

Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making capabilities and leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery.

Demonstrated ability to exercise professional knowledge and judgment in providing complex care requirements of patients/clients in the specialty field.
