About the team

Network Growth Portfolio (NGP) coordinates and facilitates the work required by Sydney Trains in the introduction of new and altered infrastructure and fleet into the Sydney Trains and NSW Trains Networks.

Transport for NSW delivers the Network upgrades through programs of work. Sydney Trains supports the works enabling successful implementation of the programs and being business ready to operate and maintain the modified Network once the works are commissioned.

The opportunity

The Director is accountable for the end to end delivery of all the MTMS programs of work delivered by Sydney Trains as part of a larger Transport for NSW programs. The position provides overall coordination and facilitation the various MTMS program stages ensuring the business undertakes the allocated scope within agreed cost and time constraints.

The role ensures best practice processes are provided in the delivery of safe, successful and compliant programs on time, on budget, to specified scope and quality outcomes in line with the business readiness to operate and maintain a reliable and efficient passenger train services.

What you will do

  • Model good leadership, visible commitment and promotion of program to inspire direction and delivery, develop people, and drive change through whole program and project lifecycle.
  • Work with all Stakeholders to identify roles to support the delivery of the Program stages strategy including the IR strategy and consultation plans. In particular working closely with Workplace Relations, Communications, People and Change and technical specialists and engaging working groups.
  • Develop and coordinate the delivery of large scale multiple complex programs, building flexibility and commerciality into the program management and approach to ensure that the program can be clearly tracked for budget, schedule, resourcing, critical points of impact, cross over, sequencing and overall progress
  • Establish Customer and stakeholder strategy, integrate the needs and considerations from a client, customer, staff perspective with a sound knowledge and understanding of the project development to achieve timely and quality outcomes throughout the project phased in particular during procurement, design and delivery.
  • Identify and coordinate program interdependencies, risks, variations and issues for successful program delivery within cost, time, quality and agreed scope and meets requirements
  • Facilitate effective governance, develop operating plans and coordinate interface solutions including the facilitation of delivery and resolution of associated issues between the Transport Cluster program team and Sydney Trains and NSW Trains staff
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Operational Integration activities required for the Program.
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with Sydney Trains safety management system requirements.

About you

  • Team player, working as one team, strong people and communication skills, problem solver, practical and pragmatic
  • Resilient and ability to work in a complex matrix environment with multiple changes
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about what you do, strong stakeholder skills, you keep your finger on the pulse when negotiating with key stakeholders to agree change, implementation and adoption to the program.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, business management, built environment or demonstrated substantial industry experience in the delivery of major large-scale transport infrastructure related fields.
  • Qualification in Program Management, change management or equivalent practical experience.
