Job Description

We are looking for an Head of Finance to join our Finance and Accounting team as our first hire to manage accounting and operations for our business expansion into Australia. Our ideal candidate is comfortable performing complex accounting duties with minimal direct supervision. You pay great attention to detail and can deliver results under deadlines as well as working effectively cross-functionally in a rapidly changing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as central point of contact between our Australian operational teams and centralised accounting functions in the US
  • Support financial operations across multiple disciplines as we develop controls and processes in a new market
  • Able to act as the company Public Officer with the Australian Taxation Office
  • Manage and perform monthly revenue accounting including reconciliation, journal entries and invoicing
  • Ensure accurate, timely and efficient processing of all transactions which include bank reconciliation, journal entries, inventory, prepaid expenses, monthly accruals, and all balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations and analysis
  • Prepare and lodge all Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) fillings
  • Enter vendor invoices into accounting system, review appropriate documentation, ensure correct coding of expenses, and facilitate invoice approval and payment
  • Support local payroll, expense reimbursement, banking, taxes and claims finance processes
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures, including month end account reconciliations and audits
  • Provide financial and analytical support to drive the Executive team’s operating and budgeting decisions
  • Identify and research monthly and quarterly variances to forecast
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve various financial processes and internal controls as we grow our operations
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
  • 4+ years of Public Accounting and/or industry experience
  • Advanced skills in operational and financial modeling/ analyis in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with large data volumes
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative and fun environment
  • Strong writing, presentation, and organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems
  • Advanced degree (i.e.: an MBA or Masters in an analytics-oriented field) is a plus
  • Strong SQL skills or experience with scripting languages (R/Python) is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with BI reporting tools required (Tableau preferred)
