  • We’re for real wellbeing.

Join us and let’s make a bigger difference together.

Established in 1840, we’re Australia’s first member-owned wellbeing company, delivering health, wealth and care services to more than 700,000 Australians. Today, while we’ve grown to a company of nearly 7000 employees, our focus remains the same as it was 180 years ago — to deliver Real Wellbeing for our customers, members and the community.

It’s an exciting time to be joining Australian Unity — we’re a growing organisation, focused on finding opportunities to create social and community value while operating with commercial purpose. Australian Unity is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

The Role

In this newly created senior leadership role as Head of Infrastructure, you will report to the GM Digital Delivery and Operations and be responsible for the strategy, implementation and operations of critical enabling IT infrastructure services including our Data Centre, Network and Contact Centre Telephony.

We are seeking a dynamic leader who has a well-measured blend of strategic and operational experience that can lead a high-performing technical team. Critical to this role will be your ability to deliver services through key vendors and partners of Australian Unity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and delivering the Infrastructure transformation roadmap and ensuring the Infrastructure is delivered in line with Security, Application Engineering and business platform roadmaps. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a cross-functional team and managed service providers to deliver core 24/7 IT services including Network, Telephony and Data Centre across all Australian Unity lines of business.
  • Ensure full value is realised from our strategic vendor partner relationships including management of outsourced onshore/offshore infrastructure partners.
  • Partner with Technology and Business leaders to drive enterprise wide infrastructure strategy and execution, ensuring our strategic initiatives support broader business strategic goals which in turn put our customers front and centre.
  • Provide infrastructure services vision, enable innovation, and leverage modern IT capability for the creation of value for all Australian Unity lines of business and the customers they serve.
  • Deliver and drive uplift in operational continuity by providing foundational IT services that are highly available, highly resilient to disruption (e.g. disaster/cyber-attack) and rapidly able to recover from failure.
  • Own and drive the central Application DBA capability.
  • Importantly, develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Group to ensure mutual understanding of the scope and value of your team’s Technology services.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity which can be located in VIC (head office is in Melbourne) or possibly another location in Australia for the right candidate. We encourage flexible work practices and genuinely promote an inclusive and supportive culture and diverse working environment. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive salary package, incentive program in addition to excellent employee benefits.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Deep infrastructure leadership experience coupled with the ability to adeptly navigate the varying needs of a complex organisational structure.
  • Experience working in a multi-sourced environment with effective and contractual service integration across various suppliers.
  • Proven experience working effectively with offshore service providers. You will have experience developing effective vendor and partner relationships, including mitigation of value leakage.
  • Exceptional leadership capability – you know how to get the best out of your people to uplift internal capability and drive successful commercial outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen and influencing capability.
  • Exceptional collaboration and partnering capability. You can naturally articulate complex ideas and solutions into easy to understand business terms and communicate this to all levels including senior executives.
  • Ability to advocate and implement change to drive diversity & inclusion across the team.
