JOB DESCRIPTION

Victorian Public Sector Job Application Tracking System

Deputy Director - Commercial & Technical Interface

Suburban Rail Loop is a city and state-shaping project that will transform Victoria’s public transport system, connecting Melbourne’s suburbs and creating opportunities in great places. The 90-kilometre Suburban Rail Loop will link every major rail line from the Frankston line to the Werribee line, via the airport, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. The project will trigger investment and renewal in the neighbourhoods associated with new stations. It will be constructed in stages across several decades, with Stage One (Cheltenham to Box Hill) delivering twin 27 km tunnels. This is a unique career opportunity to join a transformational city-shaping infrastructure project in its early stages and to help drive the best connectivity, liveability and productivity outcomes for Melbourne.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Director – Rail & Infrastructure Delivery, this role is responsible for the preparation and delivery of all of the Project's scope, technical and management requirements documents that form a critical part of the package contracts being developed to deliver the works for the Suburban Rail Loop program.

The Deputy Director – Commercial & Technical Interface will interface principally with the R&I engineering, systems assurance and project delivery teams, the legal and commercial team and the Authority's technical advisor consortium. The role will also need to interface with many other teams within the organisation to develop SRLA's project management requirements including planning and environment, safety, communications and stakeholder relations and corporate services.

This position will play a key role in ensuring that the tendered contracts are integrated within and between packages and deliver value for money outcomes that align with the State's requirements for the project.

The ability to work closely with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders, develop a strong understanding of their standards, requirements and processes and then be able to convert these into contractual terms and requirements that are sound and integrated from both a commercial and technical perspective is fundamental to the success of this role.

  • An emphasis on work / life balance
  • High-performing team environment
  • Equal opportunity employer
  • Personal & Professional development opportunities
  • Committed to safety & wellbeing
