Our client has set the benchmark in equipment management solutions in the mining and construction industries. With more than 3,000 staff spread across locations in NSW, ACT and WA, they focus on long-term relationships with their clients and their people. Looking to the future they are focused on harnessing the best talent, and we are now looking for an experienced and motivated Senior HR Business Partner to join their People and Culture team.

About the role

In this critical and influential role, you will partner with the operational areas of the business in Newcastle, Sydney and regional NSW branches delivering key projects and providing strategic support, advice and mentoring to leaders across the business. A big focus will be on developing people, culture change, performance management and workforce planning. This role will shape and deliver the HR strategy, giving you the opportunity for career progression. This role also presents an opportunity to be part of a key member of a larger People and Culture team.

The role can also be successfully based in Sydney or Newcastle, with travel required between the 2 sites, as well as to regional NSW areas on a regular basis.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing risk and mitigation strategies
  • Building leadership capabilities
  • Provide strategic advice and courageously challenge the status quo
  • Talent and performance management
  • Define and prioritise strategic people plans, including capability building
  • L&D support and implementation

About you

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications within the field of Human Resources or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' previous experience in a similar HR Advisory capacity, with mining or construction industry experience desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge, understanding and ability to interpret legislation, awards, industrial instruments, policies and procedures relevant to HR best practice
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills to effectively resolve issues in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and develop effective relationships with key stakeholders
