The Opportunity & Team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Officer to join our Dairy & Drinks team located at our award winning Salisbury site.

In this role, you will utilise your technical and compliance experience within Food Safety to maintain our high standards and meet regulations. You will also ensure Good Laboratory Practices, HACCP and GMP while driving actions for continuous improvement.

The role will be on a shift basis, covering morning, afternoon and late shifts; 05:00-13:30; 06:30-15:00; 11:00-19:30
Sunday work required; two Sundays per month and Public Holidays by roster

Reporting to the Technical Leader, you will be responsible for:

Co-ordinating the day to day operations in the laboratory including: physical/chemical/microbial testing, recording & reporting of raw materials, in-process product, finish product and environmental monitoring, daily maintenance/calibration and service of instruments
Conducting product release in SAP-QM
Reporting on Quality Lead Indicators at T1 Meetings
Identifying and report trend data for non-conformance investigations
Maintaining and drive improvements in Good Laboratory Practices
Maintaining and develop cost effective and sustainable operations through continuous improvement initiatives
Maintaining pre-requisite activities as required by HACCP
Providing technical support to external departments and business partners

Exposure to laboratory operations within dairy or other industries is required in addition to a minimum Diploma or equivalent in Food Science or related field.

Additionally you will have:
  • Experience in microbiological testing
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Skilled laboratory practices - Emphasis on high proficiency and accuracy
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the business, from leadership to operators
  • A proactive nature and willingness to take on responsibilities and ownership of tasks
  • Strong action orientation to deliver accurate outcomes to tight timelines
  • Strong communication skills and customer service focus
  • The ability to balance multiple competing priorities
  • Intermediate level skills in the Microsoft Office Package including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate level skills in general computer usage to support SAP-QM and SEQIS utilisation.
