The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment, acquisitions, litigation, and policy, and social impact. We’re looking for a Head of Public Policy APAC to join Snap Inc. As a member of the Public Policy team, you will be responsible for the public policy and government relations work across the APAC regions, with a particular initial focus on Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore, and potentially further afield in Southeast and Northeast Asia. Working from our Sydney office, you will develop and execute the implementation of the public policy strategy for relevant markets. APAC is a key growth region for Snap in 2021 and beyond and our relationships with the governments and other key public stakeholders are of the utmost importance. Ensuring that Snap’s distinctive voice is heard and considered in policy-making circles will be a key priority.

What you’ll do:

Serve as the main day-to-day policy representative of Snap Inc in APAC. Establish and deepen existing relationships with relevant government officials, NGOs, trade associations, non-governmental organizations, and other influential stakeholders.

Collaborate closely with Legal and Business teams to analyse legislative initiatives, advise on risks and opportunities, and develop company policy positions and messaging.

Work closely with the Senior Director of Public Policy International, the VP of Global Public Policy, local sales leadership, and on occasion, the senior executive organization.

Partner with the Communications team to help them appropriately respond to media inquiries, by providing the correct policy narrative that best represents Snap Inc.

Be the first to act and respond to the appropriate public policy inquiries.

Partner with consultants as necessary to assist Snap in the region.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A proven ability for shaping, and working with, government officials, NGOs, coalitions and other stakeholder groups

Good policy understanding and, ideally, existing relationships within government and the wider stakeholder community in the region

Excellent communication and advocacy skills and sound political judgement

Forward thinking and proactive ability on legislative, regulatory and public policy issues

Ability to work with Snap business to identify pertinent issues and orient the public policy team to meet priorities

Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of external groups and individuals, including those who may be opponents or critics

Articulate, thoughtful and strong decision-making skills

Ability to work independently/ self-starter in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in relevant field

7+ years relevant experience

Strong experience of working in international markets

Preferred Qualifications:

Post-graduate degree in relevant field
