About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor Emergency Services, the Specialist Emergency Services (2IC) is a proactive and inclusive leader, supporting the supervisor and emergency response team safely achieve emergency response discipline outcomes. They facilitate day to day emergency team activities and contribute to the improvement of emergency response capabilities.

The role is responsible for leading a diverse team of emergency professionals and volunteers and acting in the role of supervisor when required. You will be responsible to maintain operational readiness, equipment inspection, maintenance and assisting with the safe facilitation of emergency response activities.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 roster pattern roster arrangement.

In this role you will:
Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care, by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing, and coaching your team,
Ensure that operational emergency response readiness is maintained, including meeting team training requirements and the inspection and maintenance equipment and vehicles,
Proactively collaborating with work areas, fostering positive and productive working relationships by conducting work area inspections, in-field task observations and verifying critical control effectiveness
Plans, manages, and delivers projects that generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework, and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.

About you

You are proactive and inclusive with a strong focus on safety, people, performance, and constant improvement. You have a flexible and team-orientated approach, using your strong communication skills to achieve results using your influence.

You are solution focused and able to identify opportunities to improve or simplify our service delivery. You’re have a diverse knowledge and understanding of Emergency Response Disciplines and Operations and demonstrate current professional development.

You will be able to provide:
Certificate IV in Health Care,
Certificate III Mines Emergency Response & Rescue (or equivalent)
Certificate III Public Safety: Fire Fighting & Emergency Operations (or equivalent)
Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable)
Previous leadership experience, with a proven ability to deliver improvement initiatives
Demonstrated technology and computer system skills. With demonstrated experience with communication systems, operating and software tools (e.g. 1SAP, Microsoft Office, Cority, work management and data systems)
