Talenza have partnered with the worlds largest commercial real estate services and investment firm to find a Principal DevOps Lead. With more than 90,000 employees (excluding affiliate offices), this company offers a broad range of integrated services, including facilities, transaction and project management; property management; investment management; appraisal and valuation; property leasing; strategic consulting; property sales; mortgage services and development services. Whilst this is a well-known global business, the office here in Brisbane run like an agile tech start up.

The team are building a tenant engagement platform, used globally that is rapidly scaling in both users and functionality. You would become part of a multi-disciplinary team that is stacked full of senior engineers working autonomously yet highly collaboratively. They regularly support and help each other to tackle complex problems and deliver customer focused outcomes. This role will be working with their Brisbane based team, that works two days in the office and up to three days at home each week: giving them a great balance of quiet focused time, energetic collaboration time and socialising.

As a Principal DevOps Lead you will manage and own the release and DevOps operations; MS Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline & environments; and all production and non-production resources and assets in MS Azure. Apart from contributing to the core development of their backend on the PHP/MySQL stack, “Principal DevOps Lead” builds deployment packages, includes or excludes tickets from releases, resolves merge issues, manages the overall release and deployment process, implements process, test and deployment automation and ensures that only functioning releases reach the production environment that have gone through all checks and balances, as per the agreed upon “definition of done” and corporate change and release management protocol

The Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the development of a suite of products within their ecosystem.
  • Managing a team of 2 integration and/or automation engineers
  • Contributing to code and design reviews against peers’ code and designs.
  • Leading the design, building, and optimizing of process, build and deployment automation systems, ensuring that compliance to corporate change and release management protocols is achieved.
  • Contributing to the unit testing of the codebase and performing other assurance-related activities relevant to software product development.
  • Employing the most contemporary techniques, tools and principles to manage and/or automate build, deployment and release processes for web-based and native mobile applications using a range of options like MS Azure DevOps and technologies/stacks like PHP, MySQL, React, Swift, Kotlin.
  • Producing code, scripts and other relevant artifacts, performing local builds, deployments and tests to ensure the correct operation of the application(s) under development.
  • Operating in a Scrum-oriented agile setup where you will take part in a range of activities and meetings to understand, size, design, discuss and deliver different aspects and elements of software products.

The Requirements

  • PHP/MySQL/ReactJS fluency in all aspects, including merge issue resolution
  • Architecting build, release and test automation pipelines around Azure DevOps, Selenium and other relevant tools (e.g. EndTest would be an advantage)
  • Release and deployment management
  • MySQL database administration
  • MS Azure infrastructure management
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, coordination and stakeholder management
