Macquarie University is looking for a Learning & Teaching Engagement Manager to manage, develop and execute engagement and communication strategies supporting learning and teaching activities across the university community in line with university strategies.


  • Salary Package: From $107,404 to $119,510 p.a. (HEW Level 8), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Appointment Type: Full time, continuing position.

The Learning and Teaching Engagement Manager will be required to design, develop and implement engagement and communications strategies with a strong emphasis on learning and teaching which support activities across the portfolio and progress the strategic intent. The role will develop and execute targeted communications focused on engaging with and promoting L&T Initiatives (such as PLaCE) to Faculties and other key stakeholders across the wider university community.The role will develop the strategies for, and manage, edit, and implement key engagement communications including the Learning & Teaching Blog, ‘Teche’ involving the coordination of content with authors, selection of articles, management of subscribers and continuous improvement of the quality and content of the Blog. The incumbent will develop, maintain, and manage relationships with a diverse group of internal stakeholders in Faculties, the Learning & Teaching portfolio and across the institution. The role will develop and implement new opportunities to improve engagement and communications activities related to learning and teaching across the institution. The position will manage, maintain and improve learning and teaching content on the Macquarie University website and develop and manage communications related to learning and teaching initiatives and projects. This position will represent the University at industry events that align with the learning and teaching strategic framework. This position will establish strong networks to collaborate with external organisations and community leaders related to learning and teaching. The position is also responsible for identifying and implementing processes or system improvements related to engagement and communications within the Learning and Teaching portfolio. This position reports to the Operations Manager. In this role work hours may vary to accommodate attendance at work-related functions/events.


To be successful in this role you will have a strong collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to work in a collegial manner with a record of successful team leadership. You will be building relationships with and influencing senior stakeholders therefore demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategies for engaging and communicating learning and teaching initiatives to internal and external stakeholders would be beneficial. You must have a strong understanding of learning & teaching pedagogy and learning technologies approaches and trends. You will be someone with experience in managing communications across a wide variety of channels. You will be responsible for Stakeholder Engagement and Management. You will have a demonstrated capacity for problem solving and working at a high level of independence, hold a relevant degree or equivalent experience and have the knowledge and understanding of community building and communication approaches relevant to a higher education environment. Understanding of Project Management principles and practice and experience in IT skills including Microsoft Office and content management systems will be key. You will possess excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage and prioritise critical, often complex tasks, against competing deadlines .


The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) is located within the DVC-A portfolio and is responsible for strengthening learning and teaching at Macquarie through developing academic staff capabilities, developing and maintaining a suite of quality academic programs, creating and maintaining flexible and innovative physical and virtual learning spaces and enhancing our student learning experience. The Office is also responsible for building a diverse and inclusive culture and producing ethically and engaged graduates in local and global communities.
