SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIAN/LABORATORY MANAGER - NEWCASTLE

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified senior laboratory technician to manage our laboratory in Newcastle, NSW.

About this role:

In this role you will be responsible for the overall management, testing and reporting that takes place in our lab using the latest technologies available. Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Professional test reports that enable competitive solutions proposals to ensure profitable growth of the BL business of MetsoOutotec
  • Provide technical services for testing of mine backfill plant solutions and support the sales of solutions to customers for our mineral processing plants including paste backfill, dry stacking and tailings disposal.
  • Conducting studies that involve testwork of mine tailings and mine backfill
  • Geotechnical testing, soil classification, slurry rheology, sample classification, concrete sample curing, triaxial compression strength, filtration, thickening
  • Coordinate testing campaigns for minerals plant solutions offerings.

What you need for this role:

  • You will be a qualified laboratory technician with a minimum of five plus years experience in a geotechnical or metallurgical laboratory in a senior role.
  • A qualification of laboratory technology certificate or diploma will be advantageous.
  • You will be experienced in managing and scheduling testwork campaigns, and supervising lab technicians.
  • Your experience in sourcing consumables and equipment required to operate the laboratory is also essential to the success of this role.
