About Your Opportunity
Covering an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres and servicing many of the remote communities within North-Western Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria, the North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) is responsible for the health promotion and wellbeing of people within the service area and ensuring that effective, high quality services are accessible to all.
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) delivers services that ensure equity of access for children and young people whose emotional and behavioural disturbances is severe and complex or at risk of becoming so and whose needs cannot be met by other services.
The Key Functions Of CYMHS Are To
- Provide specialist expertise in the initial intake (advice, information and screening), forward referral, assessment, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, evaluation and recovery of infants, children and young people and their families/carers.
- Accessing level of risk (self-harming and or suicide) on presentation and as part of the management plan.
- Ensure ease of accessibility, in a timely manner, to specialist mental health services.
- Arrange, coordinate and support access to a range of services.
- Minimum of three (3) years' clinical experience.
- Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) status and/or post-graduate studies relating to ATODS will be well regarded.
- C Class motor vehicle licence.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role.

Permanent full-time role.
Generous remuneration package value up to $115,848 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range between $94,545 to $101,237 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6-Band 1)
- 5 weeks recreational leave p.a. with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
Remote Area Nursing Incentive Package (RANIP) - a variety benefits to those who accept to live in remote locations:
- Where applicable, two (2) return airfares per annum are to be provided to all full time nurses/midwives, a spouse and dependant children to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with recreation leave.
- Annual isolation bonus: $3,500 at the conclusion of one year of service, $10,500 at the conclusion of the second year of service and $7000 at the conclusion of three or more years.
- A minimum of two weeks professional leave (additional to recreational leave) per annum. $2,942 per annum for professional development expenses (travel, course/conference enrolment fees)
