The Role

As the Senior Pricing Analyst, you will have the opportunity to support in shaping and deliver one of BIG W’s key strategic priorities. In this role you will become a subject matter expert on market intelligence and provide data insights on the competitiveness of BIG W pricing against our key competitors.

Reporting into the Pricing Manager responsible for Competitive Insights & Analytics your core accountabilities include:
  • Responsible for the reporting into BIG W Price competitiveness vs key competitors : maintain integrity of the pricing database and run the price reporting on weekly basis for the Commercial team
  • Derive key insights and form appropriate pricing actions from the price reporting and work closely with the Pricing team members to actions the these insights
  • Run appropriate deep-dive data analysis to support Pricing decisions as required
  • Perform regular product matching across all supported product categories at all times to continuously expand & adjust the pricing database
  • Support initiatives to improve Price Competitiveness, Outlier processes and Smart Pricing opportunities
  • Assist in identifying actions to drive price perception improvements across each Customer Universe including but not limited to; identifying new Image Line opportunities and the identification & communication of value to customers
  • Support cost price analysis & mitigation including insights into commodities & recommendations

About You

To be successful in this role and thrive in our high performance culture, you will need to demonstrate the following core experiences:

  • 2-5 years experience in an Analyst role, experience in a retail environment is a plus
  • Complex problem solving ability to identify issues and conduct root cause analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and conceptual capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to extensively analyse multiple complex business data sets
  • High commercial and financial acumen
  • Exceptional data mining abilities, with advanced competency in the use of SQL, MS Excel and VBA
  • Ability to work in an incredibly fast paced environment and comfortably conduct analysis at varying levels of complexity
  • Stakeholder management - able to positively engage and influence through relationships

  • You’ll be curious with an eye for the bigger picture and you will have the willingness to learn. You will deliver through collaborating with our team, listening to our customers, passionate about the retail market and of course - you have to love your numbers and analytics.
