About us

NSW TrainLink is a multi-mode transport provider connecting communities across NSW. We are part of the exciting and unprecedented investment in integrated transport infrastructure and services, delivering benefits for our customers and communities as they travel across NSW as well as to Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

The opportunity

We currently have an amazing fixed-term contract opportunity (until January 2023) for an experienced Project Manager to join our NSW TrainLink Operational Planning Delivery team. This team is responsible for providing expert advice and support in relation to customer information systems, covering a number of areas including ticketing, allocation of seats, and yield management. Working in collaboration with the Network Services team they ensure the planning and delivery of key services and events across the NSW TrainLink (NSWTL) network, leveraging this relationship to bring service adjustments into a deliverable plan.

In this standalone role, you will be the focal point for NSWTL in the delivery of a specified project, or part of a program of work delivered by NSWTL, as part of a larger Transport for NSW program. This role will deliver technical expertise ensuring the requirements of the business are known, managed and coordinated for operational, infrastructure and rolling stock projects.

Reporting to the Principal Manager, you will collaborate with subject matter experts from across the directorates to identify and mitigate the impact of changes, supporting the transition from project to implementation.

As the successful individual, you will lead the deployment of operational readiness activities ensuring on time delivery and alignment to budget within a project management delivery framework. Along with managing the development and coordination of deliverables, focusing on achieving successful delivery of program outcomes identified in business plans and objectives.

About you

This role would be well suited to a highly motivated and lateral thinking individual, who thrives in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. You will have demonstrated experience with the facilitation of operational and stakeholder elements, preferably within the rail network or more broadly the transport landscape. You will also have experience maintaining records and be a documenting expert, as well as having up-to-date knowledge of the current practices, trends and developments in program management.

You build relationships easily, and your ability to influence stakeholders and navigate competing deadlines and priorities is undisputed. You maintain a high standard of work, and have strong communication skills. You make complex information understandable and clear and you have a “roll your sleeves up” approach and “get the job done” attitude to your work.

Along with being tertiary qualified in project management, you will be self-motivated and decisive - able to work autonomously and under direction with an operational viewpoint.
