The National Coach will be required to facilitate the Coaching Program as set by the Head Coach and then on a day-to-day basis will primarily be responsible for the National Squad Program and assist in school swimming.

The National Coach will work closely with and support the Head Coach in building and developing the Performance, Competition and Development Programs so that all squad participants have the opportunity to compete at their highest level.

The National Coach role will be to improve the swimming standard and the competitive skills of each swimmer while promoting competitive swimming. The National Coach has a responsibility to ensure the swimmers have a fun and positive experience.

Collaborate with Head Coach and deliver outcomes to achieve strategic objectives of the program.

  • Implement an effective coaching plan
  • Pre-plan and develop session structures
  • Conduct squad sessions to meet the defined needs of the students.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Strong understandings of biomechanics and stroke models
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all coaching staff
  • High level communication skills
  • Understanding of basic pool operations/safety guidelines
  • Create a highly successful high school coaching program
  • Conduct dry land training programs
  • Intermediate to high level computer skills
  • Design and manage carnival programs and use Team and Meet Manager
  • Responsibility for the management and running of various swim meets and competitions as directed by the Head Coach
  • Proactive and energetic with a positive approach to work
  • A demonstrable capacity to manage and prioritise tasks
  • To be discreet and able to maintain strict levels of confidentiality
  • Demonstrable problem solving and organisational skills
  • Follow safe work practices and pool guidelines
