About the NDIA

The purpose of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which will support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability. The NDIA will also provide great benefit to the families and carers of Australians living with a disability. The NDIS is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean peace of mind for every Australian, for anyone who has, or might acquire, a disability.

About the Position

The APS6 Government Relations Officer is a team membership position that connects internal and external stakeholders, with a key role in providing quality and timely reporting on matters related to engagement with Commonwealth, State and Territory officials and other external governance bodies.

The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to contribute to the implementation of strategic change management projects, supporting the implementation of the NDIS throughout Australia. It also supports the development of major programs of work that are agreed at relevant internal and external government forums

The role will have a considerable level of contact with external stakeholders in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It may liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the Government Relations Branch and the NDIA.
