The role:

Our client, a leader in power generation, is looking for a Commercial Project Professional to join their energy division and manage the completion of all financial and commercial related tasks to contribute to the project's success. The 6 month contract role is based in Sydney NW.

Key responsibilities for the role include:
  • Ensuring the correct revenue recognition and accounting treatment of contracts, variations and change orders.
  • Ensuring accurate financial reporting and forecasting for your projects (includes P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).
  • Contribution to improvement of project controlling practices within your own division.
  • Effective project administration, transparent project cost controlling and forecasting, risk/opportunity reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance to internal system control and contribute to improvements and/or implementation of system control in the division.
  • Active participation to project handover from sales, highlighting any risks/additional opportunities and if needed, challenging the project calculation.
  • Ensuring correct SAP project set up, commercially managing project procurement while collaborating with strategic procurement, taking care of goods receipts and supplier payments.
  • Securing project cash flow, taking care of customer invoicing, debtors management, FX management and project cost controlling.
  • Acting as a trusted partner and financial advisor to the internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
  • Be degree qualified in Business, Commerce, Accounting or Economics, with sound understanding of Project Management methodology.
  • Have demonstrated experience in a project based organisation as well as capabilities in project accounting.
  • Have strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Have the ability to build sound working relationships.
  • Have T&C knowledge, strong SAP and Excel skills.
