Job Summary

The Optus Data Governance team provides different areas of Optus with “Data Stewards” to lead and represent the data needs for a business function and /or a unique capability. They provide support for the data “owned” by the roles responsible for the business function, and the data necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the business capability. Stewards make recommendations to data owners, and work closely with the people making, changing, processing and reporting data. They care about the data, and what it means, and how it is used. They ensure data is documented so others can find, understand and use it quicker and more cost effectively. They help develop and ensure data standards and polices are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities * support the Legal and Regulatory teams respond to regulatory investigations;

  • support reporting to the OAIC of Notifiable Data Breaches;
  • support the implementation of new legal obligations (such as GDPR);
  • ensure the accuracy of data supporting Optus’ key compliance obligations, including:
  • Integrated Public Number Database (IPND) obligations
  • Privacy obligations;
  • Telecommunications Act obligations; and
  • TCP Code obligations
Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in legal, compliance, or a data related field with a minimum of five years proven and progressive data governance/data management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Australian Privacy and Regulatory guidelines relating to customer information and use .
  • Proven knowledge of data quality, metadata management and data governance principles.
  • Strong understanding of data quality practices.
  • Expertise identifying and tracing data lineage, shared data, coordination and visibility between the systems.
  • Strong project leadership and management skills to lead organizational change to effectively meet strategic and tactical goals.
