Source: uWorkin

Job Description

Newly created Category Management role for privately owned supermarket chain. After many years successfully running large supermarkets, this organisation has launched a new chain focussing on discount General Merchandise; this new discount chain is currently sitting at 4 stores across ACT and NSW, with a clear strategy (and funding) to hit 20 stores by the end of 2022.

Managing the purchase of 200 - 400 SKUs at anyone time through numerous Import Wholesalers, you will be responsible for securing ever changing General Merchandise that can bought in bulk and sold at a healthy margin. Through market analysis and staying across 'best buys' from the major General Merchandising environments across Australia, you will map trends and build strategies as to what products will sell and when. Once a strategy is set, this person will be responsible for executing and making that strategy happen.

You may currently be working with the General Merchandise Buying teams at Coles, WOW, Aldi, Reject Shop, KMART, Big W, Target or similar and want to work a business where the role is broader, and you have direct access to the Executive team. You will be someone who enjoys doing things differently and will be excited about the idea of bringing your big business mentality into a smaller environment where you can make a genuine impact each and every day. This organisation wants to identify someone who can demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, but at the same time someone who understands how larger Big Box General Merchandising retailer's work.
