Round Oak Minerals (Round Oak) is an emerging base and precious metals producer with a number of Australian based mining and processing operations.

The last twelve months has seen significant growth for Round Oak Minerals, as a result the Company is now seeking a highly motivated Underground Trainer / Shift Supervisor to assist with both the training functions of the underground mine as well as relief Shift Supervisor / Foreman duties. The role is based at our Jaguar Operation, Leonora, WA on an 8/6 roster.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:


  • Hands on, underground training and mentoring to upskill Round Oak's owner operator underground workforce,
  • Assist the HSEC team with operator assessments, development of training packages and other training tasks.
Relief Shift Supervisor / Foreman:
  • Ensure mining operations are conducted in a safe manner, and any safety issues are promptly reported and acted upon,
  • Organise and allocate of the shift's work with Operators,
  • Facilitate the pre-shift meetings,
  • Conduct all statutory checks as required by the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations and Mines Safety and Inspection Act,
  • Address the concerns of operators whilst ensuring that all operators act responsibly and safely,
  • Deliver on the weekly and monthly operational targets and complete all required documentation and associated reporting.

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess or be able to demonstrate:
  • Recent relevant underground operational experience,
  • The ability to operate most of the underground mining equipment to provide hands on training to a keen and willing workforce,
  • Extensive experience in Development and Production Drilling operations ideally with Sandvik Drills,
  • WA Underground Shift Supervisors Certificate of Competency (if not, the willingness and appropriate experience to be able to gain one in the near term),
  • A strong background in operating underground mining operations and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Requirements within a mining environment,
  • First Aid, Working at Heights and Dangerous Good Security Cards.
Applicants will need to possess a National Police Clearance (6 months validity) and current C Class Drivers licence to be considered.

This role will be recruited directly, agency assistance is not required.
