About the Department

St Vincent's Operating Suite currently houses 12 theatres, 12 anaesthetic rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Area. We undertake over 9,000 procedures per year in a vast range of highly specialised and complex specialities over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week. We also offer a mentoring program, which provides a comprehensive orientation to the department and aims at achieving ongoing professional development. We offer a supportive multidisciplinary environment with a strong education focus.

About the Role

Exciting opportunities exists for suitably qualified, experienced and highly motivated Anaesthetic/PACU nurses to join our dynamic Anaesthetics team on a permanent part time basis. Under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, the Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care.

Classifications for this position will range from classification range YP3 - YP11 ($67,236 - $89,902 per annum).


  • Demonstrate ‘best practice’ clinical skills within the Perioperative environment
  • Act as a clinical role model by providing the highest standard of direct patient care
  • Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge in the area of Perioperative Nursing (Perianaesthesia stream)
  • Accurately document patient care in accordance with hospital guidelines
  • Assists in the achievement of ward / unit key performance indicators.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Current Nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current experience in Anaesthetics/PACU nursing and a good understanding of the current standards of practice is essential
  • Post graduate qualifications in Peri-Anaesthesia (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
