About Department
St Vincent’s at Home (SVAH) is a multi-disciplinary team providing 7 day/week Hospital in the Home (HITH) and District Nursing services. SVAH also provides HITH nursing care to The Cottage, a six bed short stay facility providing care to people experiencing homelessness.

The District Nursing team provides district nursing care to clients under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Victorian Home and Community Care-Program for Younger People (HACC-PYP), and is a service provider to Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) eligible clients. District nursing services may also be contracted on a fee for service basis as part of the St Vincent’s Transition Care Program (TCP), and external Home Care Package Providers.

The position maybe based at any of the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne sites and may also require staff to undertake home visiting duties.

About the Role
Based at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (Fitzroy Campus)

We are seeking a dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to lead and manage our District Nursing team. This newly established role will be responsible for effective leadership, service growth and development, and efficient clinical service delivery.

The imminent expansion of St Vincent’s at Home District Nursing and Hospital in the Home programs are key pillars to the health service’s Care Beyond the Walls strategy. The role will work closely with the St Vincent’s at Home leadership team, to drive growth in service activity and build a collaborative and dynamic District Nursing team.

As the successful applicant, you will become part of a growing multidisciplinary team at a critical time in the history of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, as we transform traditional inpatient care towards a ‘home first’ approach.

The classification for this position will be Nurse Unit Manager NM10 ($114,660 per annum).

Essential criteria:

  • You are enthusiastic, self-motivated individual(s) with strong clinical and quality focus, excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive, collaborative approach to service development and improvement
  • You have a minimum of 7 years’ post-graduate experience
  • You have demonstrated effective leadership/managerial skills
  • You have relevant experience within community setting or across a broad range of acute medical/surgical services
  • You have a current Victorian Driver’s Licence

Desirable criteria:

  • Post Graduate qualifications in advanced clinical nursing or management/administration
  • Previous experience in community nursing clinical care and/or leadership
