About Department
St Vincent's Operating Suite currently houses 12 theatres, 12 anaesthetic rooms and a Post Anaesthetic Care Area. We undertake over 9,000 procedures per year in a vast range of highly specialised and complex specialities over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week. Our excellent working conditions include no on call and minimal weekends. The Endorsed Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for his/her own professional development, for supporting and assisting his/her colleagues and facilitating achievement of specific K.P.I’s as developed for unit.

The Holding Bay Nurse works collabotatively perioperative nursing team, anaesthetic medical team and surgical units to provide high qaultiy patient care preoperatively

About the Role
You will under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or delegate, be responsible for the delivery of high quality patient care in Holding Bay within the team environment. The Endorsed Enrolled Nurse will ensure the values and objectives of the Hospital, nursing service and the unit are understood and integrated into daily practice. The Endorsed Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for his/her own professional development, for supporting and assisting his/her colleagues and facilitating achievement of specific K.P.I’s as developed for unit.

Classifications for this position will range from classification range IB62 - IB72 ($58,453 - $67,059 per annum).


  • Managing the physical and emotional well being of the patient
  • Liaise with patient, patients family, medical and ancillary staff as required or requested
  • Administration of medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
  • Ensure correct admission of patient and identification procedures are carried out at all times
  • Liaise and communicates with ward staff to ensure surgical patients arrive in the Operating Suite with all required information and/or documentation

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Diploma of Nursing or Certificate IV in Nursing (medication endorsement)
  • Post registration experience in Perioperative Nursing/Holding Bay (desirable)
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to work as a part of a well-developed team
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and activities to foster good time management.
