Clinical Research Associate

This role has the flexibility to be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide.

GSK’s global clinical research program and supports the delivery of clinical trials from early phase through to phase III and some post marketing trials in Australia. Having recently merged our Pharmaceutical and Vaccines Clinical Operations, our team is focused on the delivery of GSK’s innovative immunology-based portfolio of vaccines and speciality medicines. Our Clinical Research Department is located at our Pharmaceutical Head Office in Abbotsford.

We are looking for a Clinical Research Associate to provide oversight of clinical trials to ensure that they are managed in an efficient, effective, robust and compliant way. The CRA role will essentially be to efficiently and effectively set-up, monitor, co-ordinate and conduct clinical trials to the highest standards of ICH GCP and in accordance with company protocol, standard operating procedures and local regulatory, study requirements and targets.

Your responsibilities will be broad and will include:

  • Managing a number of clinical investigator sites including: site identification, start-up, recruitment and maintenance as well as managing the close-out as part of local or global clinical studies according to ICH GCP guidelines and GSK SOPs
  • Involvement in negotiating financial arrangements with sites within agreed limits including managing documentation and co-ordinating timely payments to sites.
  • Setting up, co-ordinating and contributing to investigator meetings when necessary
  • Acting as a GSK ambassador demonstrating high professional standards and integrity in all interactions with external stakeholders.
  • Involvement in the regular review of procedures and practices involved in planning, set-up, monitoring and co-ordinating clinical trials.
  • Maintaining effective communication and working relationships with Investigators, other site staff, above country colleagues, external customers and internal stakeholders at GSK.
  • Being a continuous improvement champion looking at ways to improve operational processes and systems relating to clinical trial management.
  • Ensuring that clinical systems and related documentation are accurately and regularly updated and maintained to the highest possible standard.

    To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A tertiary qualification in health, social and/or biological science, pharmacy.
  • Prior Clinical Research Associate experience (preferred therapeutic experience includes oncology, immunotherapy, infectious disease and vaccines).[
  • Proven ability forging effective working relationships with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders.
  • High levels of initiative, professionalism coupled with the ability to operate autonomously.
  • A flexible outlook, customer focus and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/activities simultaneously.
