The Head of Financial Crime Governance role is part of the Strategic Delivery Portfolio. This is a community of experts at the heart of the Australia Retail & Commercial Division who improve performance so profoundly, we become trusted partners to all we work with. We oversee implementation of the Division’s strategy, and lead prioritisation and performance management to ensure delivery of our strategic outcomes and improving divisional execution.


As the Head of Financial Crime Governance, you will be in a senior transformation and advisory role across all of Australia Retail & Commercial Division. You will bring industry leading insights to the Division in the Financial Crime space and partner in with Group areas, the various Business Leaders and ANZx to assist in ensuring we have a leading edge controls environment and governance model and deliver solutions that are customer centric, efficient and meet our regulatory obligations. Financial Crime in this context includes AML/CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, and Fraud.
Your key priorities and responsibilities include:
  • Combat financial crime against ANZ and our customers by leading a team responsible for governing the Division wide transformation and uplift of the Financial Crime control environment.
  • Partnering with the Project Lead for the Financial Crime Transformation program to ensure strategic and customer centric solutions and best practice Financial Crime practices are embedded
  • Focusing on the end customer and ANZ risk appetite, ensure that financial crime related governance adequately supports the management of risk and ensures efficiency across the end to end customer journey controls landscape
  • Play a lead role in assisting the MD, Australia Retail and Commercial form an end to end Divisional view of compliance with Financial Crime obligations and provide strategic advice on how to embed changes to regulation and best practice.
  • Deliver effective governance of the Divisional financial crime environment by providing advice, where required, to MD, Australia Retail & Commercial and AR&C LT that controls are effective for Financial Crime risk in the Division
  • Build and line-manage the Financial Crime Governance team, including establishing and maintaining succession plans for key roles
About You
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
  • Experience being in a senior leadership role previously
  • Strong degree of know-how and ability to drive strategic initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing and negotiation skills at an Executive level
  • Deep expertise in Financial Crime and Banking
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good decision-making ability
