Government Relations Manager

Endeavour Group is seeking a Government Relations Manager to provide policy advice, external stakeholder engagement (government and industry association) and help secure Endeavour Group’s competitive advantage within the market. Working towards a potential launch as a publicly listed business this year, our Government Relations team plays an important role in championing Endeavour Group’s diverse commercial interests by managing the link between our business and all levels of government along with fostering positive relationships across relevant stakeholder groups. This role presents significant scope to focus on some challenging policy issues and achieve outcomes relevant to overall transformation and growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Senior Government Relations Manager to proactively engage with State and Federal governments to advocate on key issues, achieve meaningful business outcomes and to improve Endeavour’s reputation (Some travel will be required when safe to do so)
  • Implement diplomatic and authentic outreach which aligns with Endeavour Group’s corporate values and the Group’s External Relations & Sustainability strategy, to positively lead and influence policy debates and outcomes, including development of relevant long-term strategic partnerships (industry associations, suppliers etc.)
  • Monitor relevant political, policy & sector developments to keep internal stakeholders up-to-date on risks and opportunities
  • Ensure the design of related written submissions and coordinated events with State and Federal governments builds trust in Endeavour Group
  • Operating proactively, requiring high degrees of collaboration, drive and leadership, this role designs and supports advocacy campaigns, and undertakes significant engagement with Federal and State Government stakeholders as part of the policy development and influencing process

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Proven experience in State and/or Federal Governments, and/or Government Relations in the private sector or experience of policy engagement within a highly-regulated industry i.e. alcohol & tobacco, mining, defence etc. would be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of regulatory legislation and its application within a corporate environment and reputation management
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach to articulating Endeavour Group’s position in submissions, correspondence, reports, briefing papers and presentations
  • Ability to navigate, negotiate and influence across a matrix-style organisation
  • Desire to help build the corporate affairs function and reputation of a new, stand alone business
