Head of External Communications

Endeavour Group is seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of External Communications to play a critical role in assisting to build and protect the external reputation of Endeavour Group through the delivery of clear, consistent and timely business messages to external stakeholders via trusted earned media sources, and the development and management of a strategic communications plan across social, trade, financial and other media. The role is also responsible for the management of the Group’s relationships with community partners and charities. In addition to primary responsibility for media relationships and communications strategy, the role supports the Head of External Affairs and Sustainability in crisis communications and reputation management and the investor relations team in relation to corporate communications.

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Head of External Affairs and Sustainability, help lead the definition and iteration of strategic planning for External Communications, Corporate Public Relations, Community Engagement & Partnerships activities in collaboration with key senior business leaders
  • Support the delivery of clear, consistent and timely investor communication materials and business messages for financial results and AGM to customers, trusted media sources and owned channels
  • Work collaboratively with the broader business to manage the Group Communications response to reputational threats or crises, ensuring concurrent Business and Marketing goals are aligned
  • Drive excellence in the standard of work to build and differentiate the Endeavour Group brand through considered team leadership, metrics and advocacy
  • Develop within the leadership team an understanding of the Australian media landscape and communication requirements of an ASX listed business

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Significant, proven experience in both building and delivering corporate communication programs with a focus on reputational media management for a highly regulated, complex organisation and supporting investor relations engagement, preferably in an ASX listed business
  • Superior communication, influencing and negotiation skills with developed financial media relationships coupled with excellent stakeholder management and the ability to think nimbly
  • Ability to switch between both a strategic and operational mindset whilst managing competing priorities within cross-functional teams
  • Mature work ethic, with a resilient attitude to change and uncertainty
  • Contemporary approach to both proactive and reactive use of social media
