Tulip Thai, Beaconsfield

Position: Chef

Salary: $55,000 to $57,000

Tulip Thai is a family-owned and operated restaurant based in Beaconsfield and offers a unique atmosphere and decor providing an authentic Thai experience. Tulip Thai has been established since 2006, offering delicious, fresh and healthy Thai food. Our extensive menu features a wide range of local produce and fresh ingredients with true Thai flavours. Our facilities offer dining services and special celebrations such as wedding reception, birthday party or corporate function, etc.

We are looking for a qualified chef to perform the following duties:

  • designing menus and creating new dishes to garner more attention and traffic in the restaurant
  • preparing and cooking dishes to meet the daily operations
  • setting up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales
  • providing training to new kitchen staff, including training of health and hygiene requirements of food handlers in accordance with Food Safety Standards for compliance purpose
  • supervising staff on cooking practices and quality of dishes
  • handling complaints from customers communicated by waiters, dedicated to improving customers’ satisfaction
  • coordinating/liaising with the Restaurant Manager, kitchen workers and waiters in relation to any issue in food serving or special requirements, etc. on an ad hoc basis
  • ordering weekly supplies based on an estimation of traffic and experience
  • checking and ensuring the ordered food materials are preserved/processed properly 
  • checking online orders and preparing the food and dishes in a safe manner for delivery during peak period
  • takes direction and works with the restaurant's administrative team.

Required qualification:

  • Diploma/Advanced Diploma in relevant field;
  • Minimum 3 Years’ experience as a Chef or Cook specialising in Thai cuisine;
  • Ability to remain calm and work under pressure;
  • Excellent time management abilities;
  • Positive attitude and responsible character;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes;
  • Cert III or IV in Commercial cookery;
  • Preferably Asian cookery work experience.
