Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is Victoria's safety regulator responsible for electricity, gas and pipeline safety. Our role is to ensure that Victorian gas and electricity industries are safe and meet community expectations. We are also responsible for licensing and registering electricians, and educating the community about energy safety.

About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, as the Head of People Services. You will play a key role in advancing the strategic People and Culture agenda of ESV during a period of significant transformation. Some of the key opportunities being; supporting ESV's transition to a Commission structure and a new governance framework and assisting the organisation to transition to a more flexible, hybrid work pattern.

You will contribute by:

  • Implementing, monitoring and continuously improving our People Strategy
  • Providing expert advice on People and Culture matters to the Executive to enable optimal decision making and implementation
  • Maintaining the enterprise agreement framework that ESV operates within, ensuring that implementation, interpretation and future negotiations align with the best interests of ESV's people and the public interest
  • Leading and managing the People Services function to ensure the People Strategy is implemented effectively
  • Supporting and enhancing the service delivery model for People Services
  • Participating as a member of the Corporate Services leadership team, contributing to the overall management and strategic direction of the division, and how it best supports ESV
  • Leading ESV's Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) framework
  • Fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture with a commitment to ESV's values of Respect, Integrity, Partnerships and Accountability

To be successful, you'll have

  • Significant human resources experience at a senior manager or executive level and demonstrated experience leading a HR team / function
  • Demonstrated experience in organisational transformation
  • Strong team leadership skills, with a proven ability in mentoring and coaching a team working on concurrent, diverse projects in a high pressure environment
  • Demonstrated experience in engagement with workforce representatives and unions
  • Ability to think strategically to closely align HR services with core business strategy
  • Proven experience in leading enterprise wide OH&S frameworks
  • Current or previous experience in the public sector or public service, and exposure to a regulatory environment
