JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a chef that is passionate about what is being served to the customers. A successful candidate is required to have the following attributes/knowledge/experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in all aspects of the kitchen (pans, grill & larder sections, as well as prep and clean down)
  • Cert IV in commercial cookery
  • Fast-paced (the restaurant sits over 275 patrons) 
  • Knowledge and experience in Italian cuisine
  • Be able to start immediately 
  • Work weekends & mainly evenings 
  • Very good knowledge of food handling and preparation
  • Team player 
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English is quintessential 
  • Able to adapt accordingly

Additional attributes include:

  • planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • discussing food preparation, presentation and service matters with management, kitchen staff and waiting staff
  • demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • preparing and cooking food
  • explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
  • examining food to ensure quality
  • regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • portioning food, plating and garnishing
  • storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • able to assist in training other kitchen staff and apprentices

Remuneration package:$60,000 - $65,000 per annum + superannuation.
