The Role

Epworth Eastern is seeking experienced Registered Nurses hoping to move their career into the Perioperative setting.

Epworth Eastern has an expanding and vibrant Perioperative Services department with 10 theatres , 2 endoscopy suites and a cardiac cath lab at the Box Hill campus. We are conducting an Introduction to Speciality Practice (Perioperative Program) commencing in late May 2021.

The 4 month program is designed to support nurses without any previous experience in a perioperative setting to develop confidence and competence in either the Anaesthetics/ PACU or Scrub/Scout nursing roles.

The clinical program provides:

  • Opportunity to gain a basic level of understanding in the principles and practice of Perioperative nursing
  • Theoretical component consisting of compulsory study days
  • Clinical support in the Perioperative roles

To be successful for this role you will need to be able to commence the Program on Monday 31 st May 2021 (non-negotiable) as well as possess:

  • Commitment to learning and developing Perioperative clinical practice
  • Best practice in delivering patient centred care
  • Flexibility and excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic team environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and team skills
  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA

A minimum of 12 months post registration acute care nursing experience is essential.

This position may have the opportunity to become permanent subject to successful completion of the program and available positions.
