Medical Information (MI) is a global customer-focused group within External Medical Communications that is responsible for responding to enquiries regarding Pfizer products. This role is involved in researching and preparing responses for medical enquiries, as well as supporting Business Units, Product/Therapy Area teams and other platform functions in support of departmental and company objectives.

Role Responsibilities

The scope of responsibilities will include Local, Regional and Global elements. Additionally, a Senior Medical Information Specialist is expected to actively participate in relatively complex initiatives and projects, including:

  • Serving as the subject matter expert for Medical Information (MI) on responsible products and associated therapeutic areas
  • Researching and analysing scientific information to answer escalated medical enquiries from healthcare professionals in accordance with Pfizer and local regulatory standards
  • Developing and maintaining collection of global & local scientific response documents for designated portfolio/therapy area in accordance with Pfizer MI standards and local regulations based on customer needs. Ensures the availability, accuracy and maintenance of medical content on MI digital platforms
  • Actively participating in regional therapy area teams & global product teams and contributing to the development of regional and global content. May lead global product teams or regional TA teams from time to time.
  • Using product, therapy area and customer knowledge to analyse enquiry trends and provide customer insights to Medical Information Therapy Area Teams and Product/TA cross-functional teams
  • Ensuring that MI frontline personnel have the necessary training and resources to appropriately meet customer needs and expectations
  • Supporting key scientific conventions/congresses through participation in meeting preparation activities, staffing of MI booths during congresses and post-congress involvement with cross-functional teams
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders such as Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Drug Safety
  • Actively contributing to innovative solutions to improve MI processes and responses and to resolve problems based on knowledge and experience
  • Actively participating or leading/co-leading Regional and/or Global projects that have an impact beyond the function, country and or region
  • Acting as a resource for other MI colleagues locally, regionally or globally.
  • Participating in mentoring, coaching and training of new and existing colleagues
  • Maintaining compliance with local, regional and global Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, training requirements and local laws and regulations


Must Have
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Medical Information role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or related field
  • Experience in providing medical information, patient counselling or drug information to healthcare professionals and patients
  • Initiative, proactivity and autonomy to work independently and collaborate in a virtual work environment
  • Strong data entry skills and use of customer relationship management and content management tools
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Evidence of successful cross functional & cross-cultural working with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders

  • Postgraduate studies in a related field
  • Experience in any of immunology, inflammation or vaccines therapeutic areas
  • Good understanding of Literature searching & evaluation, medical writing and summarising clinical data
