Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We are looking for an experienced and talented regulatory lawyer to join the Amazon Kuiper Legal. You will be responsible for international regulatory filings, primarily in the Asia Pacific region, as well as assist with regulator meetings. The successful candidate will be embedded with Project Kuiper’s Regulatory team, but also work closely with Kuiper’s technical teams, public policy and other stakeholders throughout Amazon as needed. You will learn the technical details of our innovative constellation, satellites, software and ground-based infrastructure. You will regularly strategize about the best ways we can work with regulators to benefit our customers, particularly those in unserved and underserved communities.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, enjoys being continually challenged, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

This position will be based in Sydney, Australia. Some travel, primarily within the Asia Pacific region, will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Licensed to practice law in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. or other common law jurisdiction
· Law degree from a reputable university or college
· Minimum 5 years of post-admission legal experience
· At least 4 years of regulatory experience
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
· Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
· Ability to work independently while contributing successfully to cross-functional teams
· Excellent English, both spoken and written

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 2+ years experience in a top law firm
· Proficiency in multiple regional languages is a plus
· Experience with satellite communications filings
· Experience with foreign spectrum regulatory filings
· A mix of law firm and in-house experience a plus
· Experience with drafting inputs on rulemakings and consultations
· Excited and passionate about innovating on behalf of our customers
