Job Description
Exponential growth and restructuring at PWR has created an exciting career opportunity for an experienced hands-on CNC Workshop Manager to lead and mentor a team of both tradesman and apprentices in their daily operations. The role will also assist with the scheduled workflow, qualify materials and tooling across 20 CNC machines in a streamlined and cost-effective manner, to lead all cell supervisors and staff in quality and training. Our state-of-the-art machine shop comprises both Mazak and Haas machining centres with 5 axis capabilities and we currently operate 6 palletised Mazak Variaxis machines for 24/7 “lights out” automated production. We are keen to hear from experienced Machine Shop Managers who can bring existing skills in organising a dynamic working environment that can prioritise in a very fast-moving environment and wish to be part of a winning team in a rapidly growing company.
Leadership/ Management
- Effectively lead Machine Shop personnel to encourage best working practices;
- Develop and encourage a positive team environment;
- Implement positive personnel development plans in conjunction with HR;
- Manage all aspects of the Machine Shop to a standard of excellence.
Personnel recruitment, learning and development
- In conjunction with Human Resources participate in the recruitment process for personnel and ensure the development and implementation of professional development plans;
- Provide adequate training and support for apprentices and trainees; and
- Facilitate continuous learning, upskilling and support to all department personnel.
Scheduling
- Working with existing scheduling staff to ensure appropriate work flow on/off machines aligns with internal targets, as well as managing programming schedules to meet machine schedules.
Cost Control
- Develop, implement and manage cost control initiatives within all aspects of the department i.e materials, tooling, personnel rostering, equipment and resources.
